| Welcome to Dixie Dobermanns and thank you for visiting our site
My name is Viv Attwell, I live with husband Sid, a keen blues man and our kids Sam and Karl, in Orini, a lush dairying area with a warm climate and a reasonably high rainfall.
Orini is situated 1/2hr North East of Hamilton and an hour South of Auckland Airport, North Island, New Zealand.
My life with Dobermanns
started with a hiss and a roar in 1974 ...... a Rescue bitch (ex wreckers yard) in pup with no due date....Alli produced 2 healthy Dobermann pups which we housed...one dobe at that stage was definitely enough.
2yrs later I brought my first Pedigree...
The next 11 yrs I travelled the obedience circuit. Over this time I realised that a good working dog didn’t have to be ugly....I re-read the standard, went to lots of shows and "looked" and by 1985 had a very firm idea on what my type of Dobe was to be.
After a year of waiting I brought my foundation bitch Pentax Crystal Comet (Alex) .Sire: Aust/NZ Ch Dalemour Space Chariot Dam: Vostella Bonnie Star.....both lines being very tight Aust Ch Elmaro All Fire....and registered the kennel name Dixie.
Alex was mated twice
first to a Space Chariot Grandson producing Ch Dixie Midnight Hour and the second time to NZ Ch Parima the Phoenix an Aust Ch Doberherr Disco Fire son...producing Ch Dixie T-Bone Shuffle and Dixie Double Trouble (Murphy Brown) who still lives with us today at 12.5yrs.
In 1995 Murphy Brown was mated to Parima Elmers Tune his Dam being Ch Parima The Florentine, which was one of the nicest moving bitches I have ever had the privilege to watch, she was a Ch Dobeherr Disco Fire daughter ...this mating produced our wonderful little lady and an outstanding bitch NZ Ch Dixie No Beginner.
More recently
we have imported a male from Australia, breed by my good friend Karen Cornwell (Itzz Dobermanns). NZ Ch Itzz the Preacherman...Sire: Ch Shato Made to Measure Dam: Aust/Can Ch Itz Goes Around Comes Around.
In 2001 Preacher
was mated to Ch Dixie No Beginner producing on St Patricks Day 3dogs and 3bitches, the first of which has just gained her title after limited showing (Dublin) Ch Dixie Irish Dream.
We are a small select kennel, breeding on average a litter every 1 to 2 yrs, and only to further our own lines. At the moment we have living with us 5 dobes ranging from 12.5yrs down to our latest little button of 3mths. All our dogs are "House Dogs" ... and get on well with the cats, chooks, and stock. My kids Sam 11 and Karl 5 know no other breed, and adore the dogs as I do. Sam has recently started showing, and will be bringing her first baby (Envy) Dixie Murphy’s Law out in the New Year.
I belong to all 3 Dobermann clubs in NZ
and have spent time on Committee and as Vice President of the Dominion Dobermann Club, I was also Editor of the club magazine for a number of years. The rescue has always been close to the heart and I have continued to be actively involved in it over the years.
Enjoy our site...and feel free to e-mail me with any questions or just to introduce yourself.
Regards.....Viv |
